Castings are processed through a rotary drum which cleans the majority of the sand from castings and gating material. The drum also does some degating of castings. The remaining castings have the gates removed by hand.

Double ended pedestal grinders are used to remove any excess material from the castings, especially at the parting line. Abrasive blades and small die grinders are also used as required.

A Returns Crusher is utilized to break up the gating system in preparation for re-melting. The reduced size of the returns leads to more efficient handling and furnace charging.
